Comparing two very different masters Rembrandt and Picasso

In our last article of the Hermitage museum of St. Petersburg, we would like to share some pictures of very different painters, both masters in their own style. Rembrandt was mainly a Baroque portrait painter and Pablo Picasso who lived 3 centuries later was into Cubism. Both styles are fantastic but what do you prefer? Although we live in The Netherlands and have visited the Rembrandt House, I think my preference goes out the these paintings of Picasso.

In ons laatste Hermitage Museum artikel in St. Petersburg willen we enkele foto’s delen van heel verschillende kunstenaars, beide meesters in hun eigen stijl.

  2. Two great artists that are in style and era difficult to compare. Nevertheless, we find the images of Picasso also niceer because they may better fit into our modern world.
Best regards and thank you for the beautiful paintings.

  8. definately I prefer Rembrandt. It just seems to me when someone can replicate what they see so accurately with a brush, that THAT is great talent. My favourite here is Flora.

Rembrandt of Picassa. Fijne dag, Dietmut

  16. While I can appreciate Rembrandt's skill, I find more life, colour and movement in the Picassos. But I can't decide a preference - they're just different, that's all!
